Hi, I'm Frederic the host for the fourth Saturday. I was raised with
Western Swing, as it was a major part of
my parent's record collection. At high school in the late fifties I was one of
the few who listened to country and rockabilly Since the beginning I've always enjoyed doing shows with a theme. Every fourth Saturday in May I do a Rose Festival show (3 hours of Rose Maddox) On the fourth Saturdays in June & July the I start the KBOO 360 to coincide with the G. I. Joe's 200 (360 minutes of car songs) including 5 songs of the Hot Rod Race and 8 of the Hot Rod Lincoln saga (Click here to see the story of The Hot Rod Race/Hot Rod Lincoln and here for Charlie Ryan's web site). It's required me to keep searching out new music by modern bands (Or new compilations of old recordings by the original artists) to keep the sound fresh. I'm often asked where I get my CDs so I've put links on this page to my main sources. I also head down to the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender each Easter to get new material and check out new bands. I wanted to attend the Screamin' Festival in Calella, Spain in June 2002. I knew from the band list that it would be a great weekender, but the $1800 airfare made it out of the question. So I kept putting in bids of $500 for round-trip tickets to Barcelona on priceline.com and got an acceptance. So I've got a report on the Screamin' Festival in Calella, Spain, June 5th through the 10th 2002. Then there's the big ones. The Oneida Nation had a Rockin' 50's Fest I at the Oneida Bingo & Casino in the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center Green Bay in Green Bay, Wisconsin in July of 2002 and the Rockin' 50's Fest II in April of 2005. Seven days of rockabilly with 120 bands on three stages. These were the parties of the year. I've also included a page of links to the web sites of my favorite bands and a page of Western Swing links which cover the history and present state of Western Swing better than I can. I also enjoy collecting Pin-Up pictures from the 40's and 50's so I've put up a few pages of some with Cowgirls and Indians. (Warning, No full nudity but some mighty skimpy costumes on the cowgirls.) And for more pin-ups there's my Bettie Page pages. (Warning there's some nudity on these pages)
